(At Donna's place)

Trent: All right, I've checked the house. Everything is fine. If you need anything, you know where to reach me. Otherwise, I'll be back in the morning.

Donna: Okay. Thank you, Trent.

Trent: You're welcome.

Donna: Goodnight.

Trent: Goodnight.

(drives away and scene focuses on Donna's ex-husband, sitting in the car and drinking alcohol; ex-husband gets out of the car and gets into donna's house, shuts off the burglar alarm and climbs the stairs. He goes into Donna's bedroom and over to the bed and pulls the covers back, expecting to see Donna underneath them. Trent flicks on a light behind him and there are pillows under the covers)

Trent: Kevin Richards, I'm placing you under citizen's arrest for violating a restraining order and for criminal trespass.

Kevin Richards: You really think you could do that?

Trent: Yeah, I do. (they fight and Trent knocks him to the ground) Like I said, you're under arrest.

Donna: (takes out a gun and points it at Kevin) Get out of the way, Trent.

Trent: What are you doing?

Donna: Ending it.

Trent: It is ended. He's going to jail, Donna.

Donna: Oh, right. They're going to keep him there eighteen months, tops. He won't stop until he kills me. And I will no longer live in fear. So, move out of the way!

Trent: Donna, if you do this, your life is over. Think about it. All the good you do. All the women who's lives you make better through your work. Ask yourself, is he worth it?

Donna: (hesitates) No, he's not.

Kevin Richards: You know…for a bigshot lawyer, you are really stupid. Now I'm going to kill you both. Come on, hero, what are you going to do now? (points gun at them. Trent smacks him to the ground again)

Donna: Thank you. (she hugs Trent)

Outside after the cops arrive)

Trent: (talking to Walker) I just had a gut feeling that he was going to show up tonight. Does that ever happen to you, Walker?

Trivette: Yes it does. Yes it does. All the time. Excuse me. (excusing himself from the group and goes up to the house) Around here, its called Cherokee.

Trent: What did he mean by that?

Walker: Never mind. (Kevin Richards bumps into Trent as a couple of officers lead away in handcuffs)

Officer: (to Carlos) Wait a minute, detective. Are you telling me that this Trent Malloy guy took out Kevin Richards? He used to be a pro football player.

Carlos: That's what I'm telling you. He's one of Walker's best students.

Officer: Hey, go get me a picture of this. (Trent and Walker talk and Carlos looks at Trent proudly. A photographer takes pictures of Trent and Walker talking) Looks like we've got ourselves another Walker.

(At Thunder Karate)

Trent: (teaching a class) Again. (students doing ki-yas) That was good. Very good. Huddle! No, again, and remember, good loud ki-yas. Huh!

Class: Yes Sir! (class starts again)

Trent: That's more like it. Good. (at end of class) Good class, Sarah. (he shakes hands with her as Carlos enters)

Carlos: Trent.

Trent: Hey, buddy, what's up?

Carlos: Two words Cindy DelVechio.

Trent: One word- no.

Carlos: No? What do you mean, no?

Trent: Face it, Carlos. Everytime you've tried to fix me up on a date, it's been a complete disaster.

Carlos: What are you talking about? That's ridiculous!

Trent: Denise Deluise.

Carlos: All right, so that one didn't go so well.

Trent: Mary Corderol, Colleen MacAvoy. Louisa Reilly.

Carlos: N-------.

Trent: Face it, Carlos. You like girls, I like women.

Carlos: What's that supposed to mean?

Trent: How old is Cindy DelVechio?

Carlos: 22. All right, she's almost 22.

Trent: I rest my case. (phone starts ringing on the desk) It's the protection agency line. (answers phone) Trent Malloy. Hello? (no answer and he hangs up)

Carlos: Don't worry about it, buddy. If it's important, they'll call back.

(At a house.)

(A woman hangs up a phone, staring at a newspaper clipping of Trent and Walker)

Rudy: Maria! Maria! (downstairs room)

Maria: (from upstairs bedroom) Coming!

Rudy: Ven aca! (walks into the room and talks with Leon) Darte cuenta mira esta camisa, no puede llevar. Se cayieron un boton. Maria! Ven aca! (Maria enters the room) You see this? Showing her a shirt) This is my favorite shirt. Look at it. It's ruined!

Maria: (laughing) It's just a button! I'll go and sew it on.

Rudy: Why are you smiling? (Maria shakes her head, nervously, and Rudy slaps her across the face) You think this is funny?

Maria: Please don't hurt me. (he hits her again and she falls to the floor)

Rudy: You make me sick! Get out of here! Out! Take this shirt. (Maria gets off the floor, sobbing and runs out of the room as Rudy throws the shirt at her) Llevate la camisa!

(At Thunder Karate)

(Trent and Walker wrestle in the ring. Walker pins Trent to the mat and he taps out and thy start over again. Trent almost gets Walker but Walker reverses the move and Trent is once again pinned but refuses to give up)

Trent: (pinned) Oh, I'm glad you're my friend.

Walker: (grinning) Well, tap. (Trent taps out) Atta boy.

Trent: One of these days, Walker.

Walker: Good one. (They go over to the edge of the ring and sit)

(At a college apartment)

Sheila: Mikey, I'm really scared.

Mikey: It's like I told you. We've got nothing to worry about. Mendoza needs us. If he wants to sell his drugs on campus, he's gotta go through us. He's supply, we're demand: it's Economics 101. (Mikey closes the briefcase and sets it on the table)

Sheila: I don't know Mikey. What happens if he finds out we've been skimming?

Mikey: How's he going to find out? He never counts it. (There is a knock at the door) All right. Just be cool, all right? I know how to handle these guys. (Mikey opens the door to Rudy and Leon) Rudy, my man! What up?

Rudy: Mickey. What's up?

Mikey: It's Mikey.

Rudy: (entering with Leon behind) Is that my money, Mickey?

Mikey: It sure is. Fifty large. Wanna count it?

Rudy: No that won't be necessary. (Leon shoots Mikey and the other boy) I counted it last time.

Sheila: No, no! I didn't have anything to do with it! (she continues to cry hysterically as Leon shoots her)

Leon: You think they'd mind if I smoke?

(At Thunder Karate)

(Trent and Walker still sitting)

Trent: Whew. Heh, heh. Oh man…… (towel drying his face)

Walker: So, how's everything going?

Trent: Good, Walker. Real good. Karate school's going well. My protection agency's going good. Family's good.

Walker: So what's bothering you?

Trent: I don't know, It just seems like there are so many people who need help. How do you ever take time off?

Walker: Well, I tell you what…..

Alex: (walking towards them) Boy, are you asking the wrong guy.

Walker: What's that suppose to mean?

Alex: Oh, please! (taking note of the guys work out) Boy, did you get a work out.

Walker: Because of this guy. (playfully ribbing Trent)

Trent: Yeah? Yeah? You wanna go back in? (smiling)

(At the college apartment)

Officer: What have you got Detective Sandoval?

Carlos: We've got three victims. Two male, one female. All second year students at Texas State. We checked with the landlord. The unit's rented by one of the victims named Sheila Lawrence.

Woman: (distraught) Where's my daughter? Oh, what happened? Oh, God! Oh! Oh, my baby! Oh, no! (running towards her daughter's sheet covered body, as Carlos grabs her to restain her from going any further)

(At Thunder Karate)

(Trent is practicing on a punch bag as a bruised Maria enters)

Maria: Mr. Malloy?

Trent: (stopping and looking to Maria) Yeah?

Maria: I need your help.

(Up in Trent's office)

Maria: It didn't start out like this. Rudy loved me, he did. But now the least little thing. There was a button missing on his shirt and he was upset. I smiled because it was so easy to fix. Well, I read that article in the paper about how you helped that woman so I thought maybe…..

Trent: Did you fill out a police report?

Maria: No. I mean, I can't.

Trent: Look, I know someone in the district attorney's office. We can get an order of protection.

Maria: You don't understand, who Rudy is.

Trent: Who is he?

Maria: You don't want to know. I'm, I'm sorry. This was a bad idea.

Trent: No, Maria, listen to me, please. Whoever he is, he's not going to stop abusing you unless you do something about it.

Maria: I'm sorry.

(At a restaurant)

Carlos: (smiling at a waitress) Thank you. (looking at Trent over his menu) How can mushrooms be seven dollars?

Trent: Order whatever you want. It's on me.

Carlos: (putting down his menu) No.

Trent: (looking surprised) What?

Carlos: Whatever it is you want from me. No.

Trent: I can't believe this. I'm hurt Carlos. All I want to do is buy dinner for a friend.

Carlos: Really?

Trent: Really

Carlos: You just buying me dinner.

Trent: I'm just buying you dinner.

Carlos: No favors?

Trent: No favors.

Carlos: Well thanks, buddy. I owe you an apology (picking up the menu).

Trent: Accepted. But you know, since you mentioned it...

Carlos: (dropping the menu) I knew it!

Trent: I just want you to run a name for me. Rudy Mendoza. If something turns up, it turns up. If it doesn't, it doesn't.

Carlos: Trent, you know I would if I could.

Trent: Her husband beats her Carlos. He beats her bad. And she's too afraid to go to the police.

Carlos: It's totally against department policy.

Trent: So will you do it?

Carlos: Yeah. (over Trent's shoulder, Carlos notices a man hurriedly moving to the restaurant's back office)

Trent: What is it?

Carlos: Something's going down. (he abruptly rises and draws his gun as he moves to the back also)

(Restaurant kitchen office)

Man: (pointing a gun at a guy sitting at the office desk) Don't do anything stupid: unless you're willing to die for someone else's money. Come on, get up! (he pulls the guy out of the office with the gun trained on his neck)

Carlos: (standing in front of the man and his hostage) Police! Freeze! You're under arrest!

Man: (his accomplices have their guns on Carlos) I don't think so. Put the gun down. (man shifts his gun facing Carlos. Carlos begins to put his gun down as Trent comes from the side knocking the guns from the other two away. Carlos, uses this distraction to grab the man's gun and punch him. As Carlos and Trent control the situation, the two share a smile).

(At the Mendoza house)

Maria: (one the phone) One o'clock? Okay, Trent. I'll be there. And thank you.

(She walks down the hall to leave ad runs into Rudy)

Rudy: Where you going?

Maria: The beauty parlor. I told you.

Rudy: Oh? I guess I forgot. Heh, I don't know where my mind has been lately. What, no kiss goodbye? (Rudy grabs Maria) Dame un beso! (he forcefully kisses Maria and she pulls away) Tell them to do something nice. You've been looking like hell lately. (as Maria leaves Rudy moves toward Leon) Leon, follow her.

(At Thunder Karate)

Trent: (with Maria) I'm glad you called.

Maria: I want to do something. I don't know what. I cannot go on living like this. (Trent smiles and hands over a business card. Maria glances at it) An assistant district attorney?

Trent: She's a friend. I've already told her about you. She's done a lot of work in this area. She wants to help. We all do. She, um, wrote her home phone number on the back.

(outside of Thunder Karate at Maria's car)

Trent: I'll get that for you.

Maria: Thank you. (Leon is high up taking pictures of this scene) Thank you for everything.

Trent: You're welcome. (Maria kisses Trent's cheek and leaves)

(At Rudy's home office)

(Leon hands Rudy the pictures he took of Maria and Trent)

Rudy: Matalo! Kill him!

(At Thunder Karate)

(Trent is taking out the trash as Carlos pulls in)

Trent; Hey, What's up?

Carlos: I got that information on Rudy Mendoza, like you asked for. It's not good news. Mendoza keeps a pretty low profile. But when I put his name in the computer, his file had more red flags than a Chinese parade.

Trent: Run it down for me.

Carlos: He started out as an associate for the Del Vega Cartel. Muscles stuff, collection. He moved up quickly behind a reputation for ruthlessness.

Trent: I thought the Del Vegas were out of business.

Carlos: They are. Walker took them out about a year ago. Their loss was Rudy's gain. Word is, he's taken over most of their operations and he's on the verge of taking over the rest.

(A black speeding sedan comes by as Leon hangs out the back shooting and Carlos and Trent)

Trent: Get down! (the two go down and Carlos draws his gun a moment too late)

(At the Mendoza house)

(Maria passes by Rudy's office desk and sees the pictures)

Maria: Ohmigod!

(At Rudy's warehouse)

Rudy: (giving a tour) This is one of three warehouses we own. And with your help, we're going to acquire five more. Educational efforts have failed. Demand for heroine and cocaine are rising. Face it, ladies and gentelmen, war on drugs is over and we have won. To the victor go the spoils. You will note the quality of our product is quite high, as well being absolutely consistent. What you're looking at here is a minimum standard operation and can be cloned for each warehouse. We can guarantee an indefinitely uninterrupted flow. Please, feel free to sample it.

(At the Mendoza house)

Jose: Uh, uh! (he grabs Maria as she tries to leave)

Maria: What are you doing? Get out of my way!

Jose: Senor Mendoza said for you to stay here and that's what you're going to do.

(Maria goes to her bedroom and calls Alex)

Alex: Hello? (at her house)

Maria: Ms. Cahill? My name is Maria Mendoza. I'm sorry to bother you this late. Trent Malloy said he talked to you about me.

Alex: Yes he did.

Maria: I need to get out of here. He's going to kill me. I know it.

Alex: Just sit tight. I'm on my way.

Maria: No, I mean my husband, he would never let me leave.

Alex: No, I'll bring with me someone who would never let that happen. Now where do you live?

Maria: 218 Meadowbrook. I'll meet you out front as soon as I can. (Maria tries to sneak out, but trips the alarm. As she has jumped from a concrete wall Rudy's men catch her. Walker and Trent come from the trees and knock the men down)

Alex (from car): Maria!

Walker: Let's go! (he and Trent disappear back into the trees)

Jose: Oh! Who were those guys?

(At Alex's house)

Maria: I'm sorry. This was all a mistake. I mean, what can I do? There's no place that I can hide from him. I need to go back. Maybe if I apologize…….

Trent: Maria, you'll be fine. Trust me.

Maria: I never should have come to you in the first place. He has pictures of us. He'll come after you too. You don't understand what he's capable of.

Walker: We know who he is, Maria.

Trent: And I do know what he's capable of.

Maria: Ohmigod! He's already tried.

Trent: It's okay I'm fine. And you're going to be fine too.

Walker: But we need your help.

Maria: What do you mean?

Carlos: Testify against your husband.

Alex: On the phone, you told me that you knew too much.

Maria: He'll kill me.

Walker: He's not going to kill anyone.

Alex: If you testify against him, we can put him away for good.

Maria: It's in my journal. I wrote everything down.

(At the Mendoza house)

Jose: It wasn't our fault. They jumped us. There was like six of 'em.

Rudy: You like your job, right? I mean, I treat you pretty good. Take care of you families. How's your little boy doing? Entiendes? Go find her! She knows to much, Leon.

(At Rudy's warehouse)

Walker: Freeze! Texas Rangers! You're under arrest!

Officer: Drop your weapons and get on the floor! (the FBI and other officers engage in a shoot out as Walker chases a guy to the back of the warehouse)

Walker: Hold it. All right, let's go.

Guy: It's a good thing you've got that gun. Or I'd kick your butt.

Walker: Really? (Walker holsters his gun and punches that guy as he attacks) Now let's go. (handing the guy to other officers) Here, take him. (over to Trivette and Carlos) Good bust.

Carlos: Do you think Mendoza will know how we got the information?

Walker: Yep. Let's go.

(At the Mendoza house)

Rudy: They busted the warehouse. There's only one way they could have known. Hire who ever you need. Do what you have to do. Bring her back and I want her alive.

Leon: (leaving) Si, jefe.

(At Alex's)

Maria: (with Trent) At first I had no idea. He was so good to me. And then after we were married. I found out about his business. It was too late. He told me if I ever tried to leave him, he'd kill me. God, I feel so stupid.

Trent: Maria, we all make mistakes, but you recognized yours and you're doing something to correct it. That is the important thing. Come on, we don't want to keep Alex waiting.

(At the Mendoza house)

Rudy: (Leon enters with papers in hand and gives them to Rudy) Tell me you have good news.

Leon: Es cierto. I found a friend at the telephone company. It's a record of all the phone calls made from the night Maria left here.

Rudy: (looking at a highlighted number) What is that?

Leon: That is the unlisted home telephone number of assistant district attorney Alex Cahill.

Rudy: Well, that fits. We better get her before she tells them everything, eh?

(At Ranger HQ)

Alex: Maria, you did great. Combined with what you guys got on the drug raid, we should have enough to put Mendoza away for good.

Walker: How soon can we get a warrant?

Alex: I'll get a judge right on it as soon as the courts open.

Walker: Okay, let's start planning the operation.

Trivette: I'll contact the other departments.

Walker: Okay.

Alex: Maria, let's call it a night.

Walker: Where you going?

Alex: I'm going to take Maria back to my house.

Walker: Why don't you wait until we finish here?

Alex: Oh, Walker, we are so tired. I promise, I'll call as soon as I get home.

Walker: Be sure to do that.

Trent: I'll walk you down to your car.

Alex: Thank you.

Walker: Okay let's see. (Trivette, Carlos and Walker huddle around the desk to lay out the plan)

(Lower parking garage at HQ)

Alex: (opening the car) Thanks, Trent.

Trent: Anytime. Drive safe and…..

Alex: I won't forget to call when I get home. I promise.

Maria: Goodnight Trent.

Trent: Goodnight Maria. I'll see you tomorrow. (Trent walks back into HQ while Alex's car pulls out and is suddenly trapped by two of Rudy's cars. She tries to call for help but is prevented from doing so)

(In HQ)

Carlos: According to Maria's information, Mendoza was supplying to Texas State. That means he's probably the guy that killed those three kids.

Trent: It'll be great to get this guy off the streets.

Walker: Yeah, it sure is. You know, Alex should have called by now. (he tries to call Alex's house) She's not home. I'll try her cell phone. No, I don't like this.

Trent: What do you think we should do?

Carlos: I'll put an APB out on her car.

Trivette: Wait a minute. Doesn't Alex's car have one of those on board anti-theft tracking devices?

Walker: Yeah, I made he put it in a few months ago.

Trivette: I'm going to call and get it activated.

(In a garage)

Maria: Leon, let her go. She's not involved in this.

Leon: She is now.

Man: Vamanos (pushing the women into a back room)

Leon: Senor Mendoza has very special plans for you. And I have very, very special plans for you. (he grabs Alex and she stomps his foot, prompting him to slap her)

Rudy: Leon, Leon. Is that anyway to treat a lady? These two ladies and I have some business to take care of. But when I do finish, if you still want her, you can have her.

Leon: Gracias, jefe.

Rudy: Now, I need to know what you've told them.

Maria: Go to hell.

Rudy: Oh, I plan to. But first I'm going to need that information.

Maria: There's nothing you can do to me that you haven't already done.

Rudy: I wouldn't bet on that. But perhaps we can try something else. I'm going to ask you a question, you're going to tell me the truth. If you don't (whipping out a knife) I'm going to cut your friend. First question, I'll make it an easy one. Did you tell them about the operation in the warehouse? (Maria pretends to romance Rudy, but seeing he doesn't buy it, she spats in his face. Meanwhile Walker and the boys come in creating their usual commotion)

Man: (noting the commotion) Did you hear that?

Rudy: Esto que fue?

Leon: Vamanos!

Alex: (seeing Walker) Walker, they're heading out the back!

(Walker goes to take on Leon, while Trent faces Rudy. Both in an elaborate, synchronous fight scene defeat Leon and Rudy)

Walker: (upon completion of finishing Leon runs back to the women) You okay?

Alex: Yes, yes, yes.

Carlos: (checking on Trent's progress and being) You all right?

Trent: Yeah. (just as Trent hands Carlos Rudy's 9mm, Rudy moves for a concealed gun in his boot and Carlos shoots him square in the chest)

(Maria and Trent outside during the day)

Trent: I hear Los Angeles is nice.

Maria: Yeah. Seems like a nice place for a fresh start. Once I get settled, maybe you could come out for a visit.

Trent: I'd like that.

Maria: Thank you, Trent. For everything (she puts her stick in gear and drives off as Trent watches on)

(At Thunder Karate)

Trent: I'm thinking of taking a few days off. Carlos and I are going over to Louisiana to do a little bass fishing. We thought you might want to join us.

Carlos: This cabin's got four bedrooms right on the lake. You can fish off the back porch.

Walker: Sounds pretty good.

Trivette: Hey, Walker. The FBI called, they need us for an investigation in Flower Mound.

Walker: Oh, rats. I guess I'll have to take a raincheck. You guys have a good time.

Trent: Take care. (the protection agency phone rings and Carlos gives a disappointed look) Trent Malloy, personal protection. Yes sir. I'm sure I can help. That's not a problem. I've got a friend who's real good at getting inside information. Uh, huh, okay. (the entire time Carlos is profusely shaking his head, doing fishing motions. In absolute defeat he tosses the fishing brochure over his shoulder. All Trent can do is chuckle and smile.)
