(at Spy the Ultimate Nightclub)

(Carlos drives up to the club, gets out of his car and goes up to the door)

Joe: Good evening, Carlos Martinez.

Carlos: Good evening, Joe.

Joe: How are things going?

Carlos: Great. (enters the club and interacts with several people along the way, kisses some) Hey, Nicole.

Nicole: You said you'd call.

Carlos: (grabbing a quick drink) And I will.

Nicole: When?

Carlos: Soon.

Nicole: You'd better. (they kiss)

Carlos: I gotta go. (heads up the stairs)

Man l: Hey, man, what's up?

Man 2: Hey, good to see ya. Come on in!

Carlos: (Johnny Prima and a couple of men point their guns at him as he enters the room and Carlos sticks his hands up) Is this a bad time?

Johnny: (they put down their guns) Bad time? Between friends? There's no such thing! (Carlos and Johnny approach and greet each other.

Carlos: Bien, bien. Aqui?

Johnny: You look good. Sientese. (they sit down) Oh, yeah, I spoke with little Nicole earlier. She says you never called her.

Carlos: Yeah, I ran into her out front.

Johnny: Eh, busted! See? See, mano, that's what happens when you don't keep your promises. The usual? (Carlos hands him an envelope) Cinco. (Johnny hands it to a man as Ricky enters the room, being held by two men. Johnny gets up from the chair and walks over to Ricky; walking on the plastic laid on the floor) Ricky, que pasa amigo? I've been looking all over for you. And you're a very hard man to find.

Ricky: I-I-I've been around, Johnny.(Johnny slaps Ricky across the face as a man sets a duffel bag down next to Carlos)

Johnny: Are you calling me a liar, is that? Huh, Ricky? Hmmm?

Ricky: N-no, Johnny. Come on, man. I didn't do nuthin'!

Carlos: Johnny, I-I'll see you soon. (starts to stand up)

Johnny: (turning around briefly) No. I want you should see this.

Carlos: Whatever you say, Johnny.

Johnny: Good, Carlitos, good. (turns back to Ricky) Profit. In our business, there is no more important quality. Huh? Any on of us can destroy the other and if we steal from each other; well then, there is no other recourse.

Ricky: I-I-I'm sorry, Johnny! I-I-I'll pay you back, man! I-I'm sorry! I-I promise, man! Please!

Johnny: I know, I know, I know. But- its too late.

Ricky: No, no, please! Johnny, please! Johnny, please!

(Johnny shoots Ricky and Carlos cringes, horrified; everyone downstairs is partying and no one hears the gunshot)

Johnny: Get rid of him. (turns back to Carlos and sits back down)

(at Carlos's Loft)

(Carlos drives to his apartment, remembering Johnny's words and actions. He takes the lift up to his room, then goes over to his refrigerator and applies a cold beer to his forehead. He hears the lift moving and hides by the lift door and draws his gun. When the lift door opens, he jumps out of hiding)

Carlos: Don't move! (Walker and Trivette exit the lift and look surprised) Walker!

Carlos: (looking at a posterboard containing pictures of everyone he knew at the club) Cold blood. Johnny shot him in cold blood right in front of me. It was a message.

Walker: Maybe its time we took this operation down, Trivette.

Carlos: Walker. We can't stop yet. We've got four months invested in this.

Trivette: That's the point he's trying to make, Detective.

Walker: Yeah, you've been undercover too long, Carlos.

Carlos: We're almost there. All we have left is the number one guy, El Vaquero. And I can get him, Walker; I know I can.

Trivette: Detective, you've done a real good job; this is a great job. All right? With the information, the evidence you've gathered already; the Vaqueros are finished.

Carlos: That's not the point. El Vaquero is the heart and soul of this organization.. Even if we take down. every member, he'll have a whole new crew in no time. Please, Walker, I'm close, I'm really close. I just need a little more time.

Walker: Okay, one week, but that's it.

Trivette: And after that, the task force is coming in and cleaning house.

Carlos: When the time comes, El Vaquero is mine.

Trivette: I'm gonna log these drugs. (leaves Carlos and Walker alone)

Walker: Sit down, Carlos. Trivette's right; you've done a real good job with this operation. But you can't let it get personal.

Carlos: What do you mean?

Walker: I know about your brother. I know about Hector.

(flashback-; the words echo in Carlos's mind)

Carlos (as a boy): Come on, Hector, let's go home. I'm gonna be late!

Hector: Hey! I said go! What you always hangin' 'round me for, anyways? Stupid little jerk-! Go on, get out of here! (Carlos walks away, then turns as Hector shouts) No., please don't! Don't! (Hector is shot twice and falls and Carlos runs over to him)

Carlos: Hector! Hector! Help! Hector! Somebody, help! Somebody, help' (end of flashback)

Carlos: Then you know he was a junkie.

Walker: Yeah, and he was killed by a drug dealer.

Carlos: The day be died, it nearly killed my mother. Yeah, Walker, its personal. But I won't lose my objectivity. I promise you.

(Thunder Karate)

(Trent is teaching a karate class)

Trent: Now, focus. Look for a target. Nice! Nice! Face each other, bow. Good work, guys. Next up. (Tommy gets up) Face me, bow. Face each other, bow. Fighting stance. Fight! (observes the fight) Okay, okay, okay. You've both shown you can use your feet. Now show me that you can use your heads. (fighting resumes) Better, better! (Tommy beats his opponent) That's more like it. Face each other, bow. Good job. All right, line up! The tournament is this weekend. You've all worked hard, and I'm proud of each and every one of you. But there's something I want you to remember. If you win, great. If you lose, learn from it. 'Cause as long as you've learned something, you haven't really lost.

Jake: (enters with derisive whistling and clapping) Oh, man. That is so inspirational, I can hardly contain myself. If you lose, you haven't really lost. It's good. Well, I hope you're listening to your Sensei, 'cause come tournament time, my students here are going to teach each and every one of you a lesson.

Trent: What do you want, Lyons?

Jake: Oh, I just thought I'd drop by and give your students an opportunity to study under a real martial arts instructor. I'm gonna offer 'em a deal. I'm only gonna say it once. One month, free lessons, at the Jake Lyons Karate Academy. Who's with me? Okay, you are way too serious.

Trent: It doesn't look like anybody's with you, Lyons.

Jake: All right. Six months of free karate lessons at the Jake Lyons Karate Academy. Don't you wanna learn how to fight? That's right, you got big brother for that. Okay. I can't believe I'm gonna say this. Uh, one full year of free lessons at the Jake Lyons Karate Academy. It doesn't get any better than that, huh?

Walker: One year of free lessons. That would be quite a bargain, if they were worth anything. (enters the room)

Jake: (sees Walker and starts backing off the floor) Okay. All right, well, we'll wait until tournament time and see what they're worth, okay? Bye!

Trent: (to class) I'm proud of you. You showed respect and you showed discipline. And believe me, I know it wasn't easy. Mr. Malloy.

Tommy: Class, face Mr. Walker, bow. Face Mr. Malloy, bow. Ready stance.

Trent: Excellent, class! I'll see you all tomorrow! Dismissed! (to Walker) Man, that Jake Lyons is so frustrating!

Walker: Well, let's see if we can work some of that frustration out of you.

Trent: That's what I need!

(as Walker and Trent work out)

Trent: Push it, keep pushing!

Walker: Come on, stretch! Stretch!

Trent: Nice, come on, five more! Come on!

Walker: Work the back, one more, one more! Come on! One more, one more!

(as Walker and Trent practice some kicks and punches)

Walker: Relax, now relax. Better. Atta boy!

(as Walker and Trent wrestle, Trent is caught and taps out; they continue wrestling until Trent is again caught and taps out; after wrestling more, Trent catches Walker in a precarious position)

Trent: Tap out, come on. Tap out. I know you wanna! I know you wanna! Come on, tap out!

(Walker gets free and pins Trent until Trent taps out, and they quit wrestling)

Walker: Still frustrated?

Trent: You kidding? More than ever; but not with Lyons, with myself. I had you, didn't I?

Walker: Almost.

Trent: Then how come I'm the one who tapped out?

Walker: Well, because when you thought you almost had me, you got overconfident. Then I had you. (frustrated, Trent slaps the floor and relaxes on it)

(Carlos's Loaner Viper)

(Carlos and Trent go cruising around in the car)

Trent: So, Viper man, how do you like being a detective?

Carlos: Are you kidding me? It's great. I mean, don't get me wrong; I love being in uniform, but this…busting a big drug ring, going undercover...it's like a dream come true.

Trent: How do you like working with Walker?

Carlos: Its amazing. A little intimidating though. The guy knows everything!

Trent: (laughs knowingly) Tell me about it!

Carlos: (looks over at Trent) he really had a big impact on you, didn't he?

Trent: Yeah, he sure did. I mean, you remember when I was a kid, how much trouble I used to get into, rebelling against anything and everything. If it hadn't been for Walker teaching me martial arts, man, I don't know where I'd be today. (sees something) Hey, Carlos, pull over.

Charlie: (to bullies) Oh, please, leave me alone!

Bully 1: Stop lying to me; I know you took it. Now, where is it?

Charlie: Sir, I did not take it, honest!

Bully 1: Where is it?

(Carlos and Trent pull tip in the Viper)

Trent: (getting out of the car) Leave him alone!

Bully 1: Mind your own business, jerk! This punk stole my car radio!

Charlie: I didn't steal nuthin', Mister! I may be homeless but I ain't no thief!

Bully 1: What'd I tell you about ... (moves to strike Charlie and Trent grabs his arm)

Trent: Hey! I said leave him alone! (bully swings at Trent, and then Trent and Carlos fight the three bullies and win)

Carlos: (kicks one bully away) Get out of here' (Trent pushes another into him; Carlos pushes this one after his friend)

Bully2: Okay, let's get out of here! (they get into a truck and drive away)

Charlie: I wanna thank you. I'm Charlie. Charlie Clark. (extends his hand)

Carlos: Nice to meet you, Charlie. Carlos Martinez. (shake Charlie's hand)

Trent: Trent Malloy. (shakes Charlie's hand)

Charlie: I really appreciate what you just did. There's not a whole lot of folks who'd stand up for someone like me. If I can return the favor, I will.

Carlos: Thanks, Charlie, but don't worry about it. (walks back over to the Viper)

Trent: We're glad to help. Just take care of yourself, okay? (hand Charlie some money)

Charlie: Thank you.

Trent: (joins Carlos at the Viper, who is examining his jaw in the mirror) So, how's your jaw?

Carlos: (defensively) What do you mean?

Trent: Well, your chin really gave that guy's knuckles a pounding.

Carlos: Ha, ha, ha. Very funny.

Trent: Seriously, Carlos. I think its time you started training with me.

Carlos: (they get back into the car) When?

Trent: Right now.

Carlos: No, no! (looks at Trent in horror and resignation)

(Thunder Karate)

Carlos: (showing Trent a few moves) I can take care of myself with just boxing. Come on!

Trent: (unconvinced) Uh, huh?

Carlos: Yeah.

(Trent spins and kicks Carlos in the gut; Carlos doubles over and groans)

Carlos: Right. you made your point. (straightens up)

Trent: Good. Then, let's get to work.

Carlos: All right.

Trent: All right. First I'm gonna show you a reverse punch. (as they train) Good, good. Good, good, good. Good. Way to breathe. That's right. Nice! That was the best one. Good. (Carlos practices with a punching bag) You know, with all your moaning and groaning you're picking this up really fast.

Carlos: What can I say? I'm a good student. (stopping for a second)

Trent: Or maybe I'm a good teacher. (playfully bumps Carlos with a punching bag)

(Carlos's Loft)

Walker: Fifty thousand dollars. (an open briefcase is on the desk full of money)

Carlos: That's quite a step up.

Trivette: That's right, you're running out of time. You've only got one more buyer after this.

Carlos: What if Johnny gets suspicious? I mean, we go from five thousand pop to fifty pop.

Walker: Tell him there's a new buyer in town.

Trivette: Someone in a distribution network already in place but no products.

Carlos: And if Johnny wants to meet this moneymaker?

Walker: That's what we're hoping he will want.

(at Spy the Ultimate Club)

Carlos: Opening the briefcase full of money) He's got a distribution network set up in L.A. but its supplier got busted, so he can't get product. Fifty a week. You can handle all of that, part of that, or none of that. Its up to you.

Johnny: I don't like doing business with strangers.

Carlos: I understand. (closes the briefcase)

Johnny: But then, as my dear old grandmother used to say, a stranger is merely yet a friend whom you have to meet. Look, Carlitos, when do I get to meet this new friend?

Carlos: (grinning) He's back in L.A. He'll be here on Monday.

Johnny: I'll have it ready by then.

Carlos: Of course, I mean no offense, but he'll want to meet El Vaquero.

Johnny: I see no problem in that.

Carlos: I'll leave this in your care til then.

Johnny: A toast?

Carlos: Of course. (they go over to a bar and Johnny pours them each a drink)

Johnny: Here's to the big leagues. Salud! (they drink and hug each other) Carlos, cabalo despues...

Carlos: Puedo de. (Carlos leaves and Johnny lifts his glass)

Johnny: Have this checked out. (hands it carefully to Paco)

(Thunder Karate)

Trent: Watch his eyes.

Tommy: His eyes?

Trent: A lot of guys before they attack open their eyes just a little but wider. When you see that, you know its coming.

Tommy: Be ready for him.

Trent: Let me show you. (demonstrates and Tommy blocks him) Good, you saw that. Excellent. Do that in the tournament; you're gonna be great.

(Carlos's Loft)

Carlos: (talking to Walker, who's with Trivette in the lift) We got'em! Johnny took the bait, hook, line and sinker. I got a meeting with El Vaquero.

Trivette: When?

Carlos: Monday.

Walker: Hey, Carlos, I want you to stay in constant contact with us.

Trivette: When you change your rules, anything can happen) They start down in the lift)

Walker: I'll be glad when this is over.

(at Spy the Ultimate Club)

Paco: (goes up to the bar where Johnny's playing cards) Hey, Johnny, report's back.

Johnny: And?

Paco: Finger prints on the shot glass belong to a Carlos Sandoval. Detective Carlos Sandoval.

Johnny: Sandoval, huh?

(at the tournament)

(two kids are fighting and Trent watches on the sidelines. His student loses)

Kevin: (going over to Trent) Sorry, Mr. Malloy.

Trent: Kevin, you did your best and you fought well. No matter what, you're still a winner.

Kevin: Thanks, Sensei.

Trent: Good job.

Tommy: (comes over to Trent) They just gave the blackbelts a fifteen minute warning.

Trent: You ready?

Tommy: Yeah.

Trent: You nervous?

Tommy: A little.

Trent: Good.

Tommy: Where's Carlos? I thought he was supposed to be here.

Trent: (looking around) Yeah, he was.

(at Carlos's Loft)

(Carlos heads out of his place and walks over to his car)

Carlos: (two men approach him) Hey, Juan! Paco. What are you guys doing here?

Paco: Johnny wants to see you..

Carlos: Right now? Right now's not a good time. I've got to be someplace and I'm already late. Tell him I'll see him tomorrow. (turns to unlock his door)

Paco: (takes out a gun and shoots out the tire next to Carlos and Carlos jumps) You'll see him now.

(at the tournament)

Walker: Ready?

Tommy: Yes, sir.

Walker: Nervous?

Tommy: A little bit.

Walker: Good luck! (goes into the stands and sits down next to Alex)

Tommy: (in line next to Scott Baker, the guy he's about to fight) You wanted me? You got me!

(at Spy the Ultimate Club)

(they drive up in a car, then force Carlos out and up the stairs)

Carlos: (fighting them off a little) Seriously, I've got places to go; people to see (Paco shoves Carlos and Carlos stumbles a little)

Paco: (yells) Callate, Carlos!

Carlos: (points at him) Speak English.

Paco: Speak English? (shoves him again)

Johnny: (coming out of the shadows of the hallway) I'm sorry if this is an inconvenience for you, Carlitos.

Carlos: (looking around and noticing plastic on the floor) Johnny, what-what is this all about?

Johnny: You wanted to meet El Vaquero?

Carlos: Yeah. (Johnny punches him hard in the stomach and Carlos doubles over)

Johnny: Then say hello, Detective.

Carlos: (looks at him, surprised) You're El Vaquero? (Johnny nods and punches him in the face)

(at the tournament)

Walker: Here he goes. (the match begins)

Alex: Come on, Tommy! (Tommy goes flying onto the mat)

(at Spy the Ultimate Club)

Johnny: (hits Carlos twice in the face) Now, who else knows about our little operation? (puts on a pair of gloves)

Carlos: Sorry, that's privileged information. I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. (Johnny hits him twice more in the face)

Johnny: This is not a game, Carlitos. No, I'm not going to play with you. You're a dead man. Do you want to die the easy way or the hard way?

Carlos: All right. You give me no other option. You're all under arrest (they laugh and then Johnny punches him hard in the stomach and Carlos doubles over)

(at the tournament)

(Tommy gets out again)

Walker: Start thinking!

Trent: Watch his eyes!

(at Spy the Ultimate Club)

Johnny: (smacks him real hard in the face) Is that enough?

Carlos: (tries to smile and laugh) Enough? You didn't knock me down, ve. I'm still standing here.

Johnny: That's funny. (punches him hard in the stomach once again)

(at the tournament)

(Tommy finally concentrates and gets the opponent out)

Alex: Great! Tommy scored a point!

Walker: Yeah, now he's thinking. Tied up now.

Jake: (grabs his student) Word telegraph mean anything to you? Send him a letter, tell him what you're gonna do? This is ridiculous!

(Tommy finally wins the match)

Trent: (on the sidelines cheering) Yeah! Yes! Whoo! (winner is announced)

(at Spy the Ultimate Club)

Johnny: (punches him in the stomach again) Hey, detective. You want funny? Before you die, there's something I want you to know. Your brother Hector, the one who got killed in the street like a dog; the man who shot him; it was me. (Carlos has a quick flashback to that night) You know why? Because he betrayed me. Like you. Now this time, you die.

(Johnny takes out his gun and Carlos, very angry, knocks all three men down to the floor and makes a run for it. He runs down the hall and jumps unto a desk and looks back as Johnny cocks his gun at him. Carlos turns and jumps out the window and Johnny shoots him in the shoulder twice)

Carlos: Ahhhhhhhh! (falls three stories and lands on top of a car)

Johnny: (looks out the window to where Carlos lays unmoving on top of the car) Get rid of the body.

(Paco and Juan go to retrieve the body but Carlos is GONE!)

Paco: Where'd he go?

(at the tournament)

Tommy: That felt good! (he hugs Trent)

Trent: That should! Remember, you've got four more matches.

Jake: Fine, you listening to what I'm saying? Why don't you put an ad in the paper and tell what you're gonna throw? (Jake is totally disgusted)

Tommy: (goes over to Scott) Hey, you fought good.

Scott: I lost.

Tommy: Its okay. Its because you opened your eyes.

Scott: What?

Tommy: Right before you attack, you opened your eyes a little wider, so I knew you were coming. Buddies? (They bump fists)

Jake: Your brother won. Good. Good for you. You Malloys think you are so smart; I always hear what a great fighter you are and I'm not impressed. I say I can't wait to get you on the mat.

Trent: This isn't the time and this isn't the place. Believe me, Lyons, that time is coming and when it comes, you won't like it. (Jake walks away and Trent joins the group)

Tommy: What was that all about?

Trent: Absolutely nothing.

Walker and Alex: Congratulations!

Walker: I thought Carlos was coming down.

Trent: I thought so too, but when I called him at home, there was no answer.

Alex: Maybe he's running late.

Trent: I hope that's the case.

Walker: Let me call Trivette and see if he's checked in.

(at the shelter)

Man: Who's that?

Charlie: (shutting the door) No one. Go on, get out of here. (checks on Carlos, who's lying in Charlie's bed, unconscious. Charlie wipes his forehead and face with a handkerchief)

(at Spy the Ultimate Club)

Paco: Johnny, he's gotta be dead.

Johnny: Dead? How does a dead body get up and walk away? It doesn't. I want him found and I want him found, now! (they mumble something in Spanish as they head out the door and go looking again)

(at the tournament)

Walker: Trivette says he hasn't called in. I don't like this. We're going in. Can you get the search warrants?

Alex: I got them.

Trent: What do you want me to do?

Walker: Go check Carlos's apartment.

Trent: You got it. (they leave)

(at the shelter)

Man: You just can't throw me out!

Daniel: You know the rules. You stole from the community. You can't stay here.

Man: Fine, I'll go. But you haven't seen the last of me! (shoves Daniel as he leaves)

Charlie: (goes up to Daniel) Daniel, there's something you need to see. (shows him Carlos and Carlos is lying in bed, semi-conscious and coughing)

Daniel: Omigod! This man needs a doctor!

Charlie: No, we can't. I think he may be wanted.

Daniel: And you brought him here?

Charlie: I owed it to him. A few days ago some men attacked me. They thought I stole something from them. And this man stopped them. He did not have to but he did. Now I promised him if I could ever return the favor I would. (Carlos is trying hard to breath)

Daniel: You gave him your word and well honor that. But if you want to honor your promise to this man, you'll get him some help.

(out on the street)

(the two continue looking for Carlos; Trent drives up and sees Carlos's car. He then looks at the tires and notices a bullet in one and gets worried)

(at the shelter)

Charlie: Hello! (says softly to Carlos, who's restless)

Carlos: (delusional) Mom's got dinner.

Charlie: What am I gonna do, huh? What am I supposed to do?

Carlos: (turns his head) Trent, Trent. I'm thirsty, Trent.

Charlie: (has flashback to the day when Carlos and Trent saved him and they introduced themselves and Charlie sets out to find Trent)

(out on the street)

(the men keep searching for Carlos)

(at the station)

Walker: We still haven't heard from Detective Sandoval.

Trivette: so we're gonna bust the Vaqueros drug cartel.

Alex: Here's the warrants.

Walker: Oh, great. Thanks, Alex. All right, let's go.

(out on the street)

Paco: Now its very important. Have you seen him? (asks a homeless man in a box)

Man: No.

Paco: (sees another man and walks over to him) Hey, you, yeah. Come here. We're looking for a friend of ours. 5'11", 185 pounds, longish dark hair, may be wounded. We've got to find him.

Man: A friend of yours?

Juan: That's right.

Man: How good a friend is he?

Paco: Real good. (hands him a bunch of bills)

(at the shelter)

(Carlos is very uncomfortable, sweating, and he's having a hard time breathing)

(at Spy the Ultimate Club)

(Walker and Trivette drive up and they knock a man aside and arrest two men. Two other men out on the street running and Trivette jumps out of the truck and chases one while Walker grabs the other while in his truck and knocks him out)

Trivette: Well, we got everyone but Johnny Prima, Paco Montalbo and Juan Ortiz.

Walker: Take them back to Ranger Headquarters. See if you can get them to talk. I'll look for Carlos.

(Thunder Karate)

(Trent drives up and Charlie meets him as he climbs out of his car)

Charlie: Mr. Malloy?

Trent: Charlie, what are you doing here?

Charlie: Its your friend; he's hurt.

Trent: (alarmed) Come with me. Get in the car!

(at the shelter)

(Johnny, Paco and Juan arrive with the homeless man leading them. Daniel meets them coldly)

Daniel: You are not welcome here.

Man: Tell that to my friends.

Johnny: Just-just get out of the way.

Daniel: No. You must leave. (Johnny hits him hard in the face and Daniel falls to the floor and they continue on)

Johnny: Next one's a bullet, all right? (looks around at the people, waving his gun)

Man: (leading them to Charlie's area) He's in here. (looks at the empty bed) He was right here. I swear to you!

Johnny: All right, they've hidden him. (goes out and looks at the group. Tell me where he is. Hmmm? Tell me where he is. (grabs a woman and holds the gun to her. She is then forced to lead them to where Carlos is hidden)

(Walker driving)

Trivette: (calls Walker on the phone) Yeah, Walker, this is Trivette. Got a call from Trent Malloy. Says a homeless guy has Carlos at a homeless encampment down at the end of Commerce. He's supposed to be pretty badly hurt.

Walker: All right.

Trivette: See you. (Walker hangs up and speeds to the shelter)

(at the shelter)

Johnny: Better not be lying. Which way? (Trent arrives at the shelter) Over there? Come on. (Juan and Paco whip back the blanket on top of a large shelf and find Carlos. Johnny stands back a few feet from Carlos) So, I see you took the hard way. (points the gun at Carlos's head) Well, it doesn't surprise me since your brother was stupid too. (Trent comes up and kicks Johnny away and fights with Juan and Paco and knocks them both down. Johnny walks over and points the gun at Trent) Easy, Jackie Chan. I don't know who you are, Mister, but you made a bad mistake.

Walker: (from behind) Drop it! (Johnny spins around and shoots at Walker but Walker shoots him and Johnny falls to the ground. Walker goes over to Trent) You okay?

Trent: Yeah. (they go over to where Carlos is laying and Trent checks his pulse) He's alive.

Walker: I'll call an ambulance.

Trent: You're going to make it, buddy. Hang in there. (Trent wipes Carlos's forehead off with a rag and Carlos kinda awakens, trying to breathe.

(at the hospital)

Trivette: The drug bust was a success.

Carlos: What about Johnny Prima?

Walker: He's dead.

Alex: We're set for trial. Thanks to your good work, they'll all go away for a long time.

Walker: About El Vaquero, Carlos, we'll get him. It's a matter of time.

Carlos: Johnny was El Vaquero. (everyone looks at Carlos, surprised)

Trent: What are you talking about?

Carlos: Johnny made up El Vaquero to give himself an advantage. Negotiations.

Trivette: So Johnny'd be the good guy if he ever got caught he'd buy himself leniency by giving the others up.

Carlos: Yep.

Walker: There's something else, Carlos.

Carlos: What?

Trivette: We were talking to Paco Montablo and Juan Ortiz. They revealed they were both there when Johnny killed Hector.

Walker: He killed your brother because he wouldn't deal drugs.

Trivette: He was trying to keep clean but Johnny wanted to keep him dirty. When he couldn't do that, he killed him as a warning to everybody else.

Carlos: All this time, I thought...

(at the cemetery)

(lays flowers on Hector's grave and touches the stone softly)

Carlos: I love you, mano. I'm sorry. (gets up and heads back to Trent and his car, wiping his eyes. Trent helps him into the car and they drive away)
